BANGOR - Police subdued and arrested an Enfield man after he allegedly threatened another man with a gun.
On June 2, 2009 at 1214 hours, Lt. Jeff Millard and Officer Brian Smith received a call to respond to the Bangor Mall to the report of a man inside the mall with a gun.
A 21 year-old man approached Mall Security with an acquaintance, Brian Murphy, 24 of Enfield, and reported to mall security that Murphy had just threatened to shoot him and shoot up the mall and displayed a gun.
Mall security then ordered Murphy to sit down and called police.
Lt. Jeff Millard was the first to arrive and met with Mall Security who had Brian Murphy contained in the center court area of the mall. As Millard began to speak with him, Murphy reached into his pocket.
Millard immediately grabbed him and as they struggled Officer Smith assisted in subduing and disarming Murphy of the loaded handgun.
Murphy was eventually taken to the Penobscot County Jail charged with Class C felony criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. Additional charges are expected.
