Waldoboro Drug Bust
WALDOBORO - The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says a Waldoboro man is under arrest after his home was raided early June 12.
Armed with a search warrant, the State Police tactical team entered Geoffry Merritt's home on the Friendship Road about 4:30 a.m. and took him into custody. He had been the focus of a year-long investigation by Waldoboro Police, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Mainde Druge Enforcement Agency for suspected cultivation and selling marijuana.
Police seized five pounds of processed marijuana, 138 marijuana plants ranging in size from one to six feet tall, ½ ounce of psilocybin mushrooms, 31 Hydrocodone pills , about 2.3 grams of heroin and $1,000.
The street value of the marijuana was $150,000 and the heroin would sell on the street for $3,750. Drug agents found that the second floor of the large house had been converted to several growing rooms for marijuana, which were in various stages of growth. Agents contend Merritt had been growing marijuana for the past year, which was being sold in Lincoln and Knox counties.
Merritt was taken to the Two Bridges Regional Jail charged with aggravated trafficking of marijuana, trafficking heroin , possession of Hydrocodone and cultivation of marijuana .
