Man charged with felony assault in Camden

CAMDEN – The Maine State Police arrested 68-year-old Charles "Reed" Black of Camden on April 15 and charged him with aggravated assault in connection with an incident on April 7 where he and his wife had fallen from Maiden Cliff.
Black was taken into custody as he was released from Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where he had been treated for injuries since the incident at Maiden Cliff in Camden.
Reed was taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor about 9:30 p.m. The charge follows a protection from abuse order filed April 14 by Reed's wife alleged that her husband hit her in the head with a rock and pushed her over the cliff.
On April 7, it was reported that the couple had fallen off the 800-foot sheer drop off. Black’s wife was able to flag down a passing motorist and Black was located several hundred feet down the sheer cliff by a Warden dog team and he was hospitalized with severe injuries.
