Brewer Police seeking info on robbery suspect

BREWER - The Brewer Police Department is investigating a strong arm robbery that occurred in the Sherwood Forest area off Parkway South.  At approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday, August 7, Brewer Officers responded to a reported assault in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood.  Arriving officers determined that a local business owner was accosted by an unknown male as he entered his home.  The suspect stole a quantity of cash from the victim.  The Brewer Police Department believes that the victim  was specifically targeted by the suspect and this was not a random crime.

After the incident, a K-9 from the Maine State Police was used to track the suspect, who fled on foot.  The suspect was not apprehended despite officers searching the South Brewer area until sunrise.

The Brewer Police Department is seeking information from citizens who may have seen any unusual vehicles or people on foot (including pedestrians who may have been picked up and given a ride) during the hours of 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. in this area.   The areas of interest include all of Sherwood Forest extending to Greenwood Drive as well as the Parkway South/Pendleton Street area extending to South Main Street.

Anyone with potential information about this crime is asked to call Detective Sergeant Jay Munson at 989-7001.
