RANGELEY - Maine Drug Enforcement Agents and Rangeley Police have charged three people with selling heroin in the town and have seized a substantial amount of drugs and money.  Among those charged is  Tyler McFarland, 31, of Gray who is on probation for a vicious baseball bat attack on a man in Gray in 2007 where drugs were stolen.  McFarland was convicted of robbery, burglary and elevated aggravated assault and has been in jail until recently, when he was released on probation.    Also arrested Monday was Jami Driscoll, 23, of Auburn and Michael Chandler, 33, of Philadelphia, all charged with trafficking in heroin and additional charges against the trio are expected.

Drug agents had been investigating a large crack cocaine and heroin distribution ring operating out of Rangeley for several months.  New information came in over the weekend that Chandler was delivering a shipment of cocaine and heroin from Philadelphia and agents armed with a search warrant, searched a home on Main Street and at a local motel Monday morning.  Seized was $8,200,  157 bags of heroin,  20 grams of crack, also packaged for re-sale. Additionally, cocaine, Oxycodone pills and amphetamine capsules were found at the two locations.

The three are being held at the Franklin County Jail and  will make their first court appearance Jan. 30  in Franklin County Superior Court.  Assisting MDEA and Rangeley Police in the investigation have been US Border Patrol Agents,  Franklin County Deputies and State Police.
