Man overdoses on heroin, Bangor officer saves his life

BANGOR – A Bangor Police Officer saved the life of a man who had reportedly overdosed on heroin.
On July 24, around 5:25 p.m., Officer Jeremy Brock responded to the parking lot of Mansfield Stadium, where a caller had reported that a man in the parking lot was not breathing and appeared dead. Bangor Fire and EMS also responded and found Brock performing CPR on the man on the ground.
Brock had learned from a witness that the man had injected heroin about 10 minutes prior, he became ill and pulled into the parking lot and collapsed.
Bangor Fire Paramedics were able to fully revive the man, later identified as Michael Kashey, 34, of Dedham, and he was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Later that night, Officer Richard Polk responded to the EMMC Emergency Room where Kashey was being released back into the custody of police. The officer found he was carrying a bottle of Bubalbital, that he did not have a prescription for, a switchblade knife. He was then transported to Penobscot County Jail and charged with possession of heroin, trafficking in dangerous knives, unlawful trafficking of schedule drugs. There were also five active warrants for his arrest.
